Graduates of this certificate will learn to develop and manage an effective co-responder program within a law enforcement agency that fits the unique mental health needs of the local community.

Duration: 5 or 6 semesters

Admission requirements

All students seeking admission to the program must: 

  • Be a licensed mental health care professional able to sign off on involuntary hospitalization or a student in a clinical or counseling program that leads to licensure capable of signing off on involuntary hospitalization 
  • Submit the following documents
    • Official college transcripts
    • Resume 
    • Two letters of recommendation
  • Ideal candidates should have a 3.0 minimum GPA

This program is pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)

This 100% online program prepares students, who already have a bachelor’s degree in another discipline, to transition to becoming classroom teachers in elementary school, middle school, high school or special education. The curriculum focuses heavily on classroom instructional skills, and after you graduate and pass the GACE certification exam, you will be certified and possess the tools and experience you need to better the lives of your students. 

The Master of Arts in Teaching has four program options

Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education 

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education prepares students who have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in any subject for initial certification to teach pre-K through 5th grade. 

Master of Arts in Teaching in Middle Grades Education

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Middle Grades Education prepares students who have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in any subject for initial certification to teach 4th grade through 8th grade. Students in this program will choose two concentrations to better prepare for the classroom after graduation. Concentration options are English language arts, mathematics, reading, science and social studies. 

Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education 

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education prepares students who have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in specific majors for initial certification to teach 6th through 12th grade. The following majors will be considered for the Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education

  • Biology

  • History (or related social science)

  • Physics 

Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education 

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education prepares students who have a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a regionally accredited university for initial certification to teach general special education curriculum, from Pre-K through 12th grade.

Note: ³ûÄñÊÓƵ may consider an applicant who does not meet all stated requirements, but who, in the opinion of the appropriate department, may be a good candidate for admission to the University. Coursework taken at another university may be eligible for transfer if the credit matches the ³ûÄñÊÓƵ M.A.T. curriculum. A maximum of six credit hours will be considered if the students achieved a grade of a ‘B’ or higher.

]]> Expand your skills and earning potential by pursuing the Master of Education degree at ³ûÄñÊÓƵ. This program is designed to examine effective teaching trends through research and reflective decisions relating to content, pedagogy and the learner. You will learn more about your field of initial certification and develop the additional knowledge needed to become an even more effective educator. The Master of Education has three program choices to support your initial certification to further your journey as an educator.

Three program options 

Endorsement opportunities

All Elementary Education majors will choose an endorsement as part of their program of study. All M.Ed. students may add additional endorsements . To learn more, visit our education endorsement page. 

Duration: 3 semesters
Start term: Spring and summer
Class type: Online
Location: Online

  • Increase your marketable skills and earning potential with a Master of Education in your area of initial certification 
  • Take your coursework 100% online while continuing to teach 
  • Work directly with ³ûÄñÊÓƵ’s faculty, who have all worked in private or public school systems, and some as school system administrators or leaders

Admissions requirements 

To be considered for this program the applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA on all college transcripts
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university 
  • Applicants must submit an official college transcript, resume and teacher certificate
  • Applicants must apply to the program that matches their initial certification
